The awards recognise the achievements of BCE staff, and the impact of the innovative programs of work underway to support and nurture our students to reach their potential.

In 2026, 633 nominations were received from across BCE’s system of 146 schools.

St Augustine’s College Acting Principal, Judith Jones said the award was well-deserved for Rebecca and Ashley’s tireless dedication to the students and staff at St Augustine’s College.

“Rebecca and Ashley exemplify high quality, evidence-based practice. Their work is underpinned by a deep commitment to students, their learning and their growth. They work tirelessly and collaboratively, leading with a quiet determination that exemplifies the Augustinian commitment to truth (veritas). We are very proud of Rebecca and Ashley, and they are deserving of this commendation.” she said.

St Augustine’s College Head of School – Primary, Kimberley Korhonen also stated “We are immensely proud of Rebecca and Ashley for this well-deserved commendation for Excellence in Learning and Teaching as part of a school team. Their passion for education, humble leadership, and steadfast commitment to every learner are evident in all that they do. This recognition not only celebrates their individual contributions but also acknowledges the profound impact they have on student growth, achievement, and wellbeing across our community.”

BCE Acting Executive Director Ross Tarlinton OAM said the awards were an opportunity to pause and recognise excellence as something lived through service, faith and care.

“Excellence is not simply found in achievement, innovation or success, though we rightly celebrate those things tonight,” Ross said.

“To every nominee and finalist, thank you for the way you live out our mission in practical, generous and deeply human ways. Your work strengthens our BCE community and helps create places where students, staff, and families can flourish."
