2021 alumni, Helene Van Der Merwe, came in to visit Technologies Curriculum Leader Mr Baumeister to share some exciting news recently!

Helene graduated from St Augustine's College in Year 12 with exceptional marks in Digital Solutions, and some excellent experiences in Years 10, 11 and 12 including Work Experience Programs. Since then, Helene has started her studies at the Queensland University of Technology – a double Bachelor of Information Technology and Interactive Design.

In addition to her studies, Helene has been offered an exciting paid internship with the team at Energy QLD in the App UI Design Team. This 2-month opportunity leads on directly from work experience completed during her schooling at St Augustine's College.

Queensland has begun to offer the nation's most generous industry incentives to target multinational gaming studios and turn the state into a hotbed of digital games design. The Australian gaming industry alone was worth $226 million last year.

What a fantastic achievement for Helene – we are all so proud and it is much deserved for this hard-working student.
Well done Helene – you are a great inspiration to your St Augustine's College peers and others in your industry.
